There are way, way, way safer, better and faster ways to get skill points and survivor titles other than capping elite skills at double XP rate.

Therefore, I agree with the poster who said this is about as useless as double XP from scrolls weekend.

Doubling benefits is great if there are not much faster other ways to get those benefits even when they are at the doubled rate.

Wow, stop complaining. Who cares if you have 30,000 unspent skill points, not everyone does. Not everyone has all the caps. This is a nice incentive to get some caps and have some fun. Thats all it is, its not a radical skill update to complain about and they arent closing down your uber leet farming spot. Just making the casual player have more to enjoy. Damn Anet are sinners now!

Luckily I am a computer programmer and I know that it's far easier to leave things as is that to touch anything.
Believe it or not a change like that could actually take some work - the change itself could be done quickly but then it all needs to be tested which can take a significant amount of time.

The two points I'm making are :
Firstly : Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it's useless to everyone.
Secondly : Anet doen't have to do any special weekends at all yet they do.

Ask yourself this - would you prefer no weekend events or weekend events.

I do agree that Anet should go through that thread of suggestions yes but how do we know that they already haven't and ruled them out as unfeasible?

Just my luck. Went skill capping last week, capturing over 500 skills. Though that's the the worst part- just yesterday I burned all of my cash. Now I can't even participate in this event. Damn coffers. >_>

They gave us double dye drops, I believe... and keys. Those were the most highly suggested weekend events.

I, for one, am disgusted with the negativity in this thread. Thank God I don't have to play with any of you.

Have you ever tried to get survivour? Getting 10,000 exp from just killing some boss, is far easier than grinding or doing the quests that actually give a worthwhile reward. Noone in their right mind is going to try killing a boss that is known to cause death, if they want to get survivour.

Where in the OP did he say that?

Is it hidden behind one of his possitive comments?

Um, many survivors opt for this because it's an easy way to gain XP. Can you enlighten me of a "better and faster" way to gain XP for the survivor title? The only other way to get skill points are to do missions, quests and farm. What do you do when you beat all the missions and quests? Farm. Skill cap. Your logic does not make any sense.

Plus, what a great incentive to get closer to UAX.

Yay I was waiting for this weekend to come around once more. Time to start working on skill hunter again. I know XP doesn't mean much these days, but I think it has some meaning for non-monk professions. =P

Why are you people complaining? Just because it's a weekend that you might not like, doesn't mean someone doesn't find it useful. I never bother with the PvP weekends since I don't play PvP, so I'm glad that they have something more PvE oriented every now and then.

Looking forward to this weekend. I've been capping a lot this week, and was planning on doing some more on the weekend and getting double exp will really help me get my skill points back.

I like weekend events like this that aren't marketing their new chapters. It's also great for helping my newer characters with skill hunter titles.

Repeat the Kurz scouting quest.

Or repeat the Lux Jade Arena quest, although that is less safe, hence unwise. Although Jade Arena is still less unwise than just taking a Survivor character throughout all the zones in the game where elite skills are thus fighting all sorts of unfamiliar mobs. And switching his secondary constantly to accomodate the caps, which causes unfamiliarity with new builds that just increases the danger of dying even more.

Now that I think about it more, those safer, faster and better ways wouldn't help for tier 1 so I guess the XP bonus would be helpful for those who are only gonna get to tier 1.

I think this is one of the best kind of double weekends. Nolani's got 21 skill points left, so she can use some more ^^.
